Physics Vaults
Physics Vaults is an exhibition design for a science museum in Shandong, China. The interior covers about 7,000 square meters and holds five exhibition halls, an entrance zone and an immersive ring space. The halls are framed by a sequence of diminishing arches cast in a single pour of fair-faced concrete. The arched shells work as structure and as hidden cavities for building services and media systems. Large-scale apparatus, steel walkways, perforated metal and concealed lighting guide visitors through five key experiment scenes, making complex physics content easier to understand.
Physics Vaults Exhibition Design by sxdesign was recognized as an exceptional representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Physics Vaults Exhibition Design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2026. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design competition that rewards exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
