Layers of Mountains
Layers of Mountains is a residential interior of 100 square meters in Miaoli County, Taiwan. The design turns the surrounding mountains and rivers into continuous flowing lines within the home. Earth toned artistic paint covers the walls and echoes the nature seen through the windows. A three tiered ceiling conceals the large beams, the air conditioning, the energy recovery ventilator and the air purifier, so the main living space keeps a greater clear height. The elongated plan is divided into a dust area, a living room facing the ridges, an island dining area and a kitchen.
Layers of Mountains Interior Design by Yi-Lun Hsu was highlighted as an exceptional representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Layers of Mountains Interior Design earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2025. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design recognition program that celebrates excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
