Light Bathed
Light Bathed is a residential interior design for a home of 232 square meters in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. The plan includes an entrance, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, a Buddhist altar, two bedrooms and three bathrooms. The living room is placed on the sunny side, so daylight reaches the connected dining room, piano room and altar area. A roof ridge, a bookcase wall and a sliding glass door define these spaces within an open layout. Wood, marble, thin porcelain tile, Japanese wallcovering and titanium plated metal are used.
Light Bathed Residential House by Shih Ming Kan was identified as an innovative example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Light Bathed Residential House earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2024. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design recognition program that recognizes superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
