Jaeren
Jaeren is a residential apartment interior located on the west coast of Norway. The design draws on local materials, using stone in every room and a large amount of wood. Floor to ceiling windows open the facade and bring the surrounding landscape inside. A grand fireplace stands at the centre of the living area and is visible from every part of it. The kitchen is arranged as a bar with an island, barstools and a curved back wall that mirrors the curved sofa opposite. Sculptural pendant lights act as an art installation.
Jaeren Residential Apartment by Gudbjørg Simonsen has been highlighted as an outstanding illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Jaeren Residential Apartment earned the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design recognition program which honors excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
