Shades of Ink
Shades of Ink is a residential interior design for a 70 square meter apartment in Taipei City. The home contains a foyer, a living and dining room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen. The layout is inspired by traditional Chinese ink painting and uses a monochrome scheme with varied tones. Ink-black wood paneling, middle gray ceramic tile and light gray mineral paint create contrast through texture. Unnecessary walls were removed and sliding partitions were added, so the boundaries between zones can shift with daily needs. The result is a calm and flexible small home.
Shades of Ink Residential by Studio One has been featured as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Shades of Ink Residential won the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design competition that honors superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
