Ching Ming Kyoto
Ching Ming Kyoto is a Chinese restaurant interior located in a train station building in Kyoto, Japan. The floor area is 110 square meters. Regulations limited the ceiling, so the lighting was suspended and treated as art. Line lights are formed in triangle shapes and connected continuously to surround the seating areas. The ceiling is painted black to emphasize the floating line and ball shaped lights. The walls are covered with oil paintings of old Chinese stories, combined with geometric patterns and graphic floor tiles.
Ching Ming Kyoto Restaurant by Takuji Kamio was identified as a creative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Ching Ming Kyoto Restaurant won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design accolade that rewards outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
