City Corner
City Corner is a residential interior design for an apartment of about 100 square meters in New Taipei City. The original long and narrow layout limited natural light and circulation. The kitchen and master bedroom were reoriented, window openings were enlarged, and hollow cabinets were used as partitions, so daylight reaches deeper into the rooms. Gray painted walls, wood grain tiles, OSB solid wood fiberboard, gray glass and black matte iron form a vintage industrial character in calm Morandi tones. Hidden doors, movable cabinets and hanging iron shelves add flexible storage.
City Corner Residence by Chen-Yu Chiu was recognized as an exceptional illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. City Corner Residence earned the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2021. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design accolade that recognizes excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
